APA Citation Style

For your assignment, you will be using APA Citation Style; here are a few resources to help you out:

Here are a few quick tips to help you out with APA style in your reference list:

In the reference list, always abbreviate the author's first name to just the first initial.
- e.g. Noam Chomsky would be listed as Chomsky N.
Only capitalize the first letter in the first word of a title of a book or journal article (capitalize all of the words as you normally would for the title of a journal)
- e.g. Syntactic structures, but Journal of the American Psychological Association.
Date usually comes after the author and before the title -- it's enclosed in parenthesis.
- e.g. Chomsky N. (1957). Syntactic structures.

To find books at Reeves, visit the Library Catalog.

To locate books about a particular topic, try using the Keyword in Subject box

To find books at other libraries, visit WorldCat.

To locate books about a particular topic, try setting the pull-down menu to Subject.

To borrow books that Reeves doesn't have, click on Get a Book from Another Library .

Where can I find books located in the library?

Reeves Library uses the Library of Congress Classification Scheme to organize library resources. Each call number is preceded by 1 to 3 letters. The first letter is the principal subject heading.

Finding Articles for Your Assignment

Finding relevant Articles:

To find journal articles for your assignment, you need to search databases. Here are the ones that we searched in class:

Academic Search Elite
This is a general database that covers a wide range of subject areas in limited depth. It's a great place to begin your research.

Make sure to use the button and check off to get the best results.

JSTOR
This database is a general database for the liberal arts. Its best feature is that everything that you find in it is full-text.

Try to search using the 'abstract'' option and limiting your results to 'journal articles'.

Finding copies of articles:

Inside any database, you can use the button to check and see if we have access to a journal article in print [Moravian College Holdings], online, or in microfilm[Moravian College Microform].

If we do not have access to an article from Reeves, you may fill out the form to Get an Article from Another Library. The cost is $0.10 per page.
